LAP BLACK Steering Committee Meets in Kobuleti, Georgia to Advance Regional Climate Resilience

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local climate change response capacities in the Black Sea Region, the LAP BLACK Project (BSB00353) convened its Steering Committee Meeting in Kobuleti, Georgia. The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and brings together international partners to enhance regional climate resilience.rn

Held from 10 to 13 February 2026, the four-day program combined coordination meetings, strategic planning sessions, and field visits. Participants reviewed project progress and aligned on upcoming milestones and joint actions.

Programme Highlights

10 February – Arrival Day

Project partners arrived in Kobuleti and gathered for a welcome dinner, providing an opportunity for cross-border networking and informal exchanges.

11 February – Main Working Day

Core sessions were hosted at the conference hall of Golden Sun Hotel. The meeting opened with remarks from Kobuleti Municipality representative Nino Chkhetia.

The Lead Partner presented the next steps of the project, followed by an open discussion. Partners shared updates from their regions, outlining progress, challenges, and needs related to Local Adaptation Plan (LAP) development. Sustainable park initiatives, project management and financial updates, procurement planning, and strategic coordination were also addressed.

12 February – Site Visit and Future Planning

In line with the project’s pilot application goals, participants conducted a field visit to Gelauri Green Park, the designated pilot area. A press conference followed to inform the public about project objectives and expected results. The day concluded with a working session on future actions and a joint working dinner.

13 February – Departure Day

The meeting officially concluded with the departure of partners. 

A Step Toward a Climate-Resilient Black Sea Region

This Steering Committee Meeting represents another important milestone toward building a more sustainable and climate-resilient Black Sea Region. By supporting local adaptation teams, developing pilot applications, and strengthening cooperation among local stakeholders, LAP BLACK continues to promote practical climate adaptation solutions across borders.
