Sakarya Launches Implementation of Local Climate Adaptation Action Plan

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has officially entered the implementation phase of its Local Adaptation Action Plan (LAP), designed to transform the city into a climate-resilient and sustainable urban center. Developed over a one-year period under the EU-supported Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme (LAP BLACK Project), the plan received unanimous approval from the City Council in June. Formulated through five comprehensive stakeholder workshops involving public institutions, universities, NGOs, and the private sector, the roadmap outlines concrete measures to mitigate primary climate risks, including floods, droughts, heatwaves, and water management challenges. Demonstrating this vision in practice, the newly established Sustainable Climate Park in Adapazarı serves as a flagship project for the city's green transformation.
